The ‘Z-Max’ label means that particular framing connector has been specially produced to be used in applications where the connector will be directly touching Pressure Treated lumber. The additive protective elements used in most common pressure treated lumber products can degrade the standard zinc metal coating on regular framing connectors. The ‘Z-Max’ label tells you that the connector has been manufactured specifically to withstand use with those pressure treated lumber products.
